David Roth’s 1:12 Proposal. The Plan Even the Media Doesn’t Want You to Hear About
David Roth is the president of JungsozialistInnen Schweiz/Jeunesse socialiste suisse. That means Young Socialists Switzerland. Unless you’ve been to Switzerland recently you’ve probably not heard of him, which is extraordinary, considering the media attention he’s getting in a country where individual wealth per capita is the highest in the world. Mr. Roth says it all began in 2008/2009 when UBS was bailed out by Swiss taxpayers. While that was happening UBS executives were still receiving obscene bonuses worth tens of millions. He started collecting signatures. One hundred thousand are needed in Switzerland to get a text seen by parliament. Roth’s proposal is that the highest paid individual in a company not be paid more than 12 times the lowest paid job in that same company. Of course politicians won’t voluntarily vote for this, so the only way to get it through is by referendum. I’m watching with great interest.
