Just no way to beat Ikea prices. Boys behaving badly.
I’m still looking for new furniture for the terrace. One of our guests had an accident with one of the brown armchairs. They’re made of poly-rattan which is said to resist anything, but evidently it doesn’t. After two years it started splitting on the edges and now it’s weak enough that any good push (like when one is getting up) will split the whole thing apart. I was thinking of cream textilene (as in that picture I put up a few days ago), but I fear the same fate. I had a look at the Ikea website and they’ve got wood furniture for extraordinarily low prices. I think I’m going to go for this:
It comes out at under 300 euros… and we’ll just have to endure the annoyance of taking the cushions in, and out, in, and out. I don’t think I’m leaving it brown, though. Cream’ll look more interesting. I also don’t like the back cushions, they should be bigger. In fact maybe it should be a single, long seat cushion and three ‘fatter’ back cushions.
I did something terrible last night. A friend (one of our permanent guests) is house-sitting for some other friends who are in Tuscany. She’s alone with a tiny dog in an isolated house in Seevetal (lower saxony). One of those houses that’s all glass and surrounded by tall trees. I was bored, so at around midnight I sent her a text message asking if she’d seen the news about the murderer who’s targeting women who are on their own in that area As much as she probably knew I was lying, I bet a lot of door lock checking went on.
And today I’m looking serious
