A lovely gift or two
by pinkagendist
Cousins arrived last night. We ate, we drank- ’til late. I got a stunning pair of 19th century plates with our family crest on them. I also got a hardback copy of Les Ligneaux. Our mutual cousin, the baroness’, fictionalized account of the family’s last summer at Migneaux before the death of her grand-mother (my great-great grandmother). The house once belonged to Marie Louise O’Murphy (mistress of Louis XV)- it was later bought by our family. Now it’s been turned into apartments. I’m going to hang the plates in the dining room.

Now your family, Pink, must go back a long time. You have a family crest
We can trace our family straight back to Charles I (Charlemagne), and his ancestry is known all the way back to the 4th or 5th century- so that’s quite a long time back
Wow! wow! That’s quite a long time back
I have cousins visiting this weekend, but I don’t have a family crest so I’m not sure what they might come bearing.
Wow. You know I keep forgetting you’re one of the landed gentry Pinky.
I’d love to have a family crest. Maybe mine could be a magpie as I love collecting interesting people and lustreware cups and saucers!
I think I’m more of the gentry who hasn’t yet landed- and is still circling the airport- eating extra peanuts and complaining they’re not giving me enough whiskey
lmao – in that case I hope you packed a parachute. :p
You have quite an interesting family tree, I’m amazed by that. My family tree and its history has been lost through the centuries, though I have been able to gather some fractions of information regarding some of my ancestors going back to the end of the 19th century. I wish I new more about the contributions my family made to our country as I know quite a few of them were in politics, writers and linguist.
It’s a beautiful family crest.
