Wow! Now I even have informants! Sam Bacile aka Nakoula Basseley Nakoula
by pinkagendist
Should the Jewish, Muslim or Christian communities and/or reporters want to contact the fraudster extraordianire directly I’ve been given an unverified address at Cerritos, California, south 166th Street and Bloomfield Avenue. I’m in Spain and it’s the middle of the night- plus I have a black tie thing this week, so I have to pick up clothes from the dry cleaners- so I’m much too busy to bother.
Update Via Christine Pelisek on The Daily Beast: The man behind the incendiary film, Innocence of Muslims, has a criminal record that includes a narcotics conviction. According to a source close to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula was arrested by the L.A. Country Sheriff’s Department on March 27, 1997 and charged with intent to manufacture methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Nov. 3, 1997 to one year in county jail and three years probation. The D.A.’s office said he violated probation on April 8, 2002, and was re-sentenced to another year in county jail.
Nakoula had been registered to vote as a Democrat from 2002-2008, according to the L.A. County Registrar Recorder’s office. In April of 2008, he changed his political affiliation to American Independent.
Nakoula’s identity and involvement in the film was confirmed to the Associated Press by federal law-enforcement officials. Nakoula, who lives near Los Angeles, had claimed to numerous media outlets that the man who created and directed the film was an Israeli real estate developer named Sam Bacile. The Associated Press reported yesterday that Nakoula was a Coptic Christian convicted of federal bank fraud charges in 2010.
UPDATE II:
Independent media reports have confirmed the address overnight and a Christian charity called Media for Christ has been tied to the movie.
“Media for Christ, whose stated mission is to “glow Jesus’ light” to the world, obtained permits to shoot the movie in August 2011, and Nakoula provided his home as a set and paid the actors, according to government officials and those involved in the production.”

Oh Pink, tread lightly. It is exactly this kind of he said, they said, maybe thing that gets people wrongfully hurt. What if this guy is not THE guy? What if this is not the address? What if some poor schmuck who lives there, but is not the one you’ve written about: who allegedly made the film and contributed to the death of four people and insighted riots all over the flipping world. And what if more of these imbeciles you refer to decide to hurt the wrong person? See where I’m going here? I think that so many things require a moment to breath, before acting. As much as I adore you… just had to point this out. Breathe.
I agree with you here especially since the majority we are dealing with here does seem to me to have no brains of their own. So unless that particular address is a phony, let no more lives be lost.
Pink, can I gate crash into the black tie
Me too! I have some very nice gowns I could pull out.
Chris Dickey of Newsweek confirmed the man’s name, as did Christine Pelisek and Federal authorities. Now we even know he is also a convicted meth cooker: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/09/13/mohammed-movie-s-mystery-director.html
I do not doubt the name of the film maker. I agree with many of your points about his movie and the horrendous impact of it. However, in providing an address you may unwittingly be contributing to yet more violence. The topic is powerful and very provocative, and none of us know who is reading your post, just as no one anticipated that viewers of that stupid movie would be incited to murder. My point exactly is that extremism knows little logic or boundary. Most of us who saw any of that film (and I did hit your link, but could only bear just under 2 minutes), could see it was garbage. But clearly the extremist mind not only took it seriously but thousands of them now believe that the movie represents the beliefs of all Americans and all Jews.
In no way am I defending him, he is a loser. No doubt he thought he was being clever in making this film. He thought he would push some buttons, and he is a bully (simplified). However, I have also read that he is in hiding and is distraught over the murder of the embassy employees. I have little doubt that it never occurred to his under-developed brain that others might take his film and murder in its name. If he did, than he is that much lower on the pole, but I doubt it.
So, my point Pink is that YOU are not in that category. You have spoken on this very blog about the twisted world of bullying and provocation. In printing an address, even a correct one, even for a person who is truly vile, how would you feel if some loose screw reads your post and kills in your name… or beats, or maims or simply terrorizes? And what of neighbors and those around him who are probably currently dealing with fall out as well?
I feel you can write your heart out and speak your mind, as you always do… but adding provocation to an already volatile situation is not your bag. This man will be in a world of pain without you… the Feds, Muslims, Jews, and anyone following this story is already onto him.
Well, how’s this for a stirred pot. ;-p
I take your point. I still haven’t made up my mind on his intentions, though. I’m not sure it was innocent. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who cooks meth, but I do have a stereotype in my mind of people who would do it.
At this point I’m thinking it was a dual anti-muslim/anti-semitic ploy. He intentionally misled the media about his religion. Juan Cole is saying today that the film is tied to extremist Evangelicals… I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be true.
I had read on the first day that this was tied to a Right wing evangelical minister. I would not doubt it for a minute. I also believe that the minister may have hired this Jewish producer/director and they clearly misled the film’s crew and cast. However, I am not sure I believe that any of them were clever or smart enough to know just how far this would go. I think they were ignorant bullies who thought the’d poke fun at another religion, and stepped in big doo doo. In the end, extremism is extremism and it’s at the root of all of this… It’s disgusting.
For the record, the “address” you provide is merely an intersection, so I don’t believe this idiot is in any immediate danger. He should be put in danger for such a stupid stunt. He knowingly put this film together actively lying to the actors in the film about what was going on or how the film was going to be used. Now the actors are coming forward to state their lines were dubbed post production and did not match their recollection of the script.
This turkey did this on purpose, with malicious intent. Maybe he didn’t think people would die, but I think he expected a violent response. He should be arrested for inciting violence.
Absolutely. Now there are people at risk in every embassy in the middle east. There have been threats of attacks in Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt- and I imagine there are more to come.
