Gibraltar Bomb Threat. Border Closed for Hours.
by pinkagendist
Tensions are still high after Spanish police foiled Al-Qaeda terrorist plans in La Linea de la Concepción in early August.
There was a bomb threat today at the border. From my MOD source: “Telephone box at the Cepsa petrol station was blown up three times and all flights diverted to Malaga …. no bomb discovered. Probably somebody’s duty-free cigs left in a backpack by mistake. Gibraltar totally grid-locked as a result for hours.

Never noticed a thing!
That’s good! It means they did their job well
We were expecting people to dinner who got stuck in traffic. There were so many cars it took ages to organize clearing the area.

My geography is challenged – that’s not anywhere near you is it Pinky?
It is!!! Gibraltar (known as The Rock) is an island/peninsula linked to La Linea, about 15 to 20 minutes from Sotogrande where we live
Bloody hell that’s not good.
The sooner you move to France the better. Please keep us updated.
These days I think we’re not safe anywhere… although, the Spanish police have been quite amazing responding. All the Madrid bombers were caught in a matter of days.
I suppose that’s true. I’m not too sure how effective our police would be in similar circumstances.
Not a word about it in the US press. Thanks for letting us know over on this side of the polluted pond. Not to be too cynical, but you might amend your statement to “The police claimed that all the Madrid bombers were caught in a matter of days.” I have little confidence in the effectiveness or honesty of our domestic prosecution and police industry when it comes to high-profile crimes. I do not give more credence to foreign prosecutors and police.
LOL. You’re right. North African Arabs were arrested, some were killed in a showdown- but we don’t really know much more than that.
Spain isn’t exactly famous for the fairness of its Franco and even Post-Franco justice system (with the exception of Garzón and Marlaska, of course!)
I have learn several excellent stuff here. Certainly worth bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how so much attempt you put to make one of these great informative site.
