Sei que vou te amar. I know I’ll love you so. Yes, that’s Simone de Beauvoir in the picture.

The lyrics to this song were written in a place called Itapoan (alternate spellings: Itapuã, Itapuan.) Vinicius de Moraes, the author, was usually on my grandmother’s terrace when he was composing. Invariably holding a glass of whisky. Lots of interesting people sat on that terrace, including Simone de Beauvoir and J.P. Sartre. They stayed at the beach house in 1960 during their only visit to South America. Here they are during the visit alongside Jorge Amado.
Lyrics in english:
I know I will love you so
As long as I’m alive I will love you so
Relentlessly and desperately
I will love you so
With each goodbye I know
I will love you so
And every verse I write
Will say just this, will say
I know I will love you so
As long as life is in me
I know that I will cry
Each time you leave, I know that I will cry
Tears falling from the time you say goodbye
Till you return to wipe them from my eyes
I know I will suffer so
An endless misadventure
Yes I know
Just waiting to be
At your side once more
For all my life
I know

Oh wow Pinky…that song is…so warm. I know how nuts that sounds but that’s the feeling it created in me. Love it.
That’s an excellent description, have a look at the place and it all comes together: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pontofuturo/5751003471/
